This Friday we’re wiping away your winter woes and splashing you into a pool of psych with Aquasolo; an aesthetic and inspirational overload squeezed into a five-minute climbing film.
This Friday Flick Pick beautifully captures the ascent of a less-than-deep water solo in Capo Noli, Italy, by former World Bouldering Champion and E9 Climbing Clothing owner, Mauro Calibani.
The English translation of the Italian route’s (ultra long) name is: “The good news is that with the rise in temperature of the Earth, sooner or later, the sea level will rise here.” Named so, because of the shallow water below that would make for a dangerous fall, and the absence of bolts on the route due to the local customs of rock preservation philosophy. Mauro became the first to make the brave solo ascent of this 20 meter line, graded at 8a (5.13b) this August (2014).
