Commit to Your Fellow Climbers — Sign The Climber’s Pact

The Climber's Pact

Are you willing to stand up for our climbing areas?

As climbers, we rely heavily on the health and accessibility of our landscapes to pursue the activity we love most. Unfortunately, the growing popularity of our sport has resulted in a gradual degradation of the climbing areas we all deeply treasure … and it’s in our hands to change that.

To help reverse this trend, join the Access Fund and Black Diamond by pledging to The Climber’s Pact—an initiative to improve our community’s climbing practices for the protection of these special places.

What does that entail?

A commitment to your fellow climbers to:

  • Be considerate of other users
  • Park and camp in designated areas
  • Dispose of human waste properly
  • Stay on trails whenever possible
  • Place gear and pads on durable surfaces
  • Respect wildlife, sensitive plants, soils, and cultural resources
  • Clean up chalk and tick marks
  • Minimize group size and noise
  • Pack out all trash, crash pads, and gear
  • Learn the local ethics for the places you climb
  • Respect regulations and closures
  • Use, install, and replace bolts and fixed anchors responsibly
  • Be an upstander, not a bystander

Can you agree to these principles?
