This November, sport climbing legends Dani Andrada and Edu Marin embarked on a project of epic proportions. They dedicated themselves to achieving an ascent of Chilam Bilam (5.15b, 9a+/b): the legendary 85-meter sport route with 235 moves that spans across one of the most impressive limestone roofs ever found. This route located in Southern Spain’s Villanueva del Rosario saw its first confirmed ascent in 2011 by Adam Ondra.

Full of pump-inspiring physical tufa climbing, as well as challenging technical movement on frighteningly small holds, this diverse line essentially brings 3 wild routes into 1—making Chilam Bilam one of the world’s most spectacular lines climbed thus far. So spectacular, in fact, that it takes over an hour to climb Chilam Bilam from start to finish.

For me it’s one of the ten best routes in the world.
