In this MTNmeister interview, we hear from Dr. Jared Vagy— a doctor of physical therapy known in our community as “The Climbing Doctor.”

As a professor at USC’s Department of Physical Therapy who works with Olympic athletes in the US and China, and has treated and worked with well over 1,000 climbers, Jared knows what it takes to keep an active body healthy. Recently, he also authored the book, Climb Injury-Free, which includes injury advice from professional climbers and step-by-step rehabilitation instructions for climbing injuries.

In this interview, we hear about common climbing injuries among, how to know when to try hard and when to back off, and the critical difference between pain and injury.
