About the International Climbers’ Festival
The International Climbers’ Festival in Lander, Wyoming, has been a fixture in the climbing world for over 20 years and stands as the longest running climbing festival ever. Since 1993, this grassroots festival —welcoming climbers from all over the globe—has continued to rally the climbing community together, for an incredible summer celebration of climbing, music, and of course, tasty beer. 2015 marks the 22nd year of this unforgettable event, and will take place from July 8-12.
At first, Lander might not strike you as a prime climbing destination to put on your summer map, but you’ll be delightfully surprised by the seemingly endless high quality rock, abundant sun, and kind people that make Lander a truly special place. If the sandstone and limestone cliffs of Sinks Canyon or Wild Iris don’t call to you, then the granite boulders or alpine peaks in the Wind River Range surely will.
While the Lander climbing areas have grown over the years—the passion and unique climber-friendly feel of this small Wyoming town are what continue to make it a must-stop for climbers of all backgrounds and skill sets. Lander not only offers free camping and a diverse offering of rock-type for all styles of climbing, but it is also home to The Lander Bar/Gannett Grill —considered to be the best climber bar in all of the world.
