I know there will be plenty of climbers criticizing this piece as style over substance and that’s totally fine. I get it, there is a climbing video normalcy that people are used to seeing. And there are some great companies out there doing amazing work that do the climbing community justice. I’m not taking anything away from their content but I do feel that rock climbing on a pure level has a naturally aesthetic and intrinsically artistic element to it that often gets overlooked in linear route climbing videos. I thought something highly stylized could not only capture the beauty of climbing but the mental aspect that words can’t describe. And so came about “The Overlife”. Feel free to hate it but it takes much less effort not to.
