‘Barefoot Charles’ Sends V15/8C—Yes, Barefoot

Not one to boast, French climber Charles Albert didn’t waste his breath on the announcement: “Yo, I did monkey wedding (8c) last week, I’ll upload the video later.”

Located in South Africa’s bouldering mecca, Rocklands, Monkey Wedding was originally established by the legendary Fred Nicole in 2002. According to Hard Climbs, this logs in at only the tenth ascent in fifteen years.

But this feat isn’t terribly surprising: after all, Charles stunned the climbing world last year with his barefoot (heel hooks and more) V14/8B+ ascent of Gecko Assis, one of Fontainebleau’s hardest lines:
