Daniel Woods Climbs Buttermilks’ Lucid Dreaming, V15 (8c)

Last January, bouldering beast Daniel Woods successfully achieved the second ascent of the Buttermilks highball, Lucid Dreaming, first established by Paul Robinson and originally graded at V16. Later downgraded by Paul to V15 (8c), this climb still maintains an astounding level of difficulty.

Oh, and Daniel¬†managed to send¬†this monster of a problem¬†in the dark …

Lending to his strengths in dynamic movement across small, sharp¬†crimps and pinches, watch as Daniel crushes his way up¬†the crux section, which involves a dino from a crimp to a massive horizontal swing-out that had previously stumped him in his past attempts. Overcoming this challenging portion of the climb, Daniel also manages to move through¬†Lucid Dreaming’s¬†30-40 foot slab section, which doesn’t¬†exactly fall under Daniel’s climbing style forte.

I just had a rush of emotions going through my head, and the adrenaline completely spiked

See the footage and hear from Daniel, as he climbs this epic boulder problem under the night sky in Bishop.
