This week we’re featuring the journey of globetrotting, Italian climber, Jacopo Larcher, as he discovers the art of crack climbing and the beauty in its mental challenges.
Jacopo, a competition climber who left the circuit in 2011 to commit to climbing outdoors, bears an impressive career in both sport climbing and bouldering—having climbed sport routes up to 9a and on-sighted sport lines and boulder problems up to 8b+.
In recent years, after major sport climbing ascents around the world, Jacopo has become more attracted to the deep mental focus required in the styles of multi-pitch and trad climbing. And while traditional routes are many in America, they are less sought out throughout Europe, which has impelled Jacopo to explore the world to discover this “purer” style.
My dream is to travel the world climbing on the most revered ‘big walls’ and to discover new unclimbed faces. A challenging dream, but I’m determinate to do everything I can to make it possible.
Watch as Jacopo ventures into the realm of crack climbing; a style that requires him to learn a entirely new set of skills from scratch, both physically and mentally.
