This week, we’re featuring two Friday Flick Picks for your viewing pleasure.

The first (above) follows Babsi Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher’s journey to free climb the notoriously difficult Zodiac (5.13d) on El Capitan. Until these two showed up to the Valley, this stout 16-pitch route had only seen two previous free ascents.

The film not only showcases incredible footage of each of them climbing Zodiac’s most challenging pitches, but it also gives us a glimpse into the partner dynamics needed to accomplish big wall routes.

The most important thing about big wall climbing is that you have to know your partner really well. You have to work well as a team and understand the needs of the other.

The second video pick (below) is a short profile on Jacopo, in which he shares his process for tackling tough projects—a cycle that involves battling his internal demons, training deliberately, and refusing to give up.
